Porotape by Lohmann & Rauscher has been discontinued

Porotape is gone. Your taping experience does not have to be.

Porotape was a familiar white rigid sports tape for many professionals. Lohmann & Rauscher discontinued this specific product and does not offer a direct successor in its current range. Porotape.nl therefore points international users to two clear Essity alternatives: Leukotape Classic and Strappal.

Porotape explained

What exactly was Porotape?

Historical Lohmann & Rauscher documentation describes Porotape as a rigid, tensile sports tape for partial fixation, support and preventive taping. It was white, hand-tearable, water-repellent and supplied with a serrated edge.

The product many professionals remember

The well-known 3.8 cm version included REF 30084. Many sports therapists and physiotherapists recognise Porotape by its white roll and green-and-white L&R packaging. The original product image is shown here deliberately so former users immediately know they have found the right knowledge base.

Two sensible routes

Which tape best fits the way you used Porotape?

Experienced Porotape users are usually looking for predictable handling rather than simply “a roll of tape”. That is why we deliberately narrow the choice to two clear routes.

Latex-free route

Strappal

Strappal is the logical route when a latex-free rigid sports tape is required. It handles differently from Leukotape Classic and Porotape, so a practical trial is advisable.

L&R still matters

Porotape stopped. Lohmann & Rauscher certainly did not.

Porotape is one discontinued product. Lohmann & Rauscher still offers a broad professional portfolio for retention, support, compression, padding and skin care. These products are not Porotape replacements; they show why L&R remains an important manufacturer for FRAMO and healthcare professionals.

Note: each product below has its own intended use. Do not treat these products as rigid sports tape unless the manufacturer specifically describes that use.
Lohmann & Rauscher

Lohmann & Rauscher

Practical selection

How to choose without guessing

1

Identify what you valued in Porotape

Was it firm fixation, hand-tearability, unwind, width, adhesion or the way the tape felt under load?

2

Choose your primary route

Start with Leukotape Classic if a classic professional rigid tape is your priority. Choose Strappal when latex-free use is important.

3

Trial it with your own technique

Assess unwind, tearing, skin contact, layer build-up and feel using the same taping technique you used with Porotape.

4

Scale only after testing

Only move to larger quantities once the replacement behaves predictably in your own practice.

Albert’s Tip

If you used Porotape for years, do not compare products on specifications alone. Trial one suitable width of Leukotape Classic and one of Strappal using exactly the same technique. The best replacement is the tape that proves most predictable in your hands, with your athletes and in your workflow.

Safe use

Do not apply rigid sports tape over open wounds or clearly damaged skin. Stop if pain, tingling, numbness, discolouration, increasing swelling, itching, burning or another unwanted reaction occurs. Product choice and taping technique depend on the individual, skin, complaint and objective; this knowledge base is not a substitute for medical assessment.

Frequently asked questions

Replacing Porotape without guesswork

Is Porotape still manufactured?

No. Lohmann & Rauscher discontinued Porotape as a regularly supplied product.

Does Lohmann & Rauscher offer a direct successor?

Not as a direct Porotape successor in the current range. For rigid sports tape, we therefore point users to Leukotape Classic and Strappal.

What is the best alternative?

There is no universal one-to-one replacement. Leukotape Classic is the quality-focused first comparison; Strappal is the logical latex-free route.

Was Porotape latex-free?

No. Historical product information states that the adhesive contains natural rubber latex.

What replaces Porotape 3.8 cm?

In width, Leukotape Classic 3.75 cm and Strappal 4 cm are the closest matches.

Is Lohmann & Rauscher still a relevant manufacturer?

Absolutely. L&R still offers many professional retention, compression, padding and skin-care products. Only Porotape itself is the discontinued item discussed here.

Is this medical advice?

No. This website is a product and selection guide for professional materials and does not replace an individual medical assessment.
